He's Here!

He has arrived & we are home! I promise I will post more when I'm feeling up to it! He's a cutie and was well worth the wait! Thanks for all of your encouragement and prayers! I really needed it those last few days.

The Truth

The bunny still tells the truth, sadly. This baby just doesn't seem to be in a hurry like his mom & dad. We'll keep waiting.

It Lies

That cute little bunny at the top of my blog lies. Well, not entirely. It is true that I'm 40 weeks pregnant and that I'm still "Waiting to Bring Home Baby J" but it is a sad reminder that timelines don't always work out the way you'd like them to. It's frustrating for a control-freak like me.

We're still waiting.

Thunder & Lightning

This summer has been hot here in Denver. And I'm not just saying that because I'm pregnant. It really has been hot--we've broken a number of records over the course of the last few months.

However, yesterday and today have been very strange here in the Denver area. The high yesterday was 62 and today it's only supposed to be 59. Brrr. And, even stranger, it has been raining and raining and raining. It never does that in Denver.

Last night, Joel & I were startled awake at about 2AM by the loudest thunder crack I have ever heard. It literally sounded like an explosion. Both of us woke up suddenly asking "What was that?" and then asked each other "is your heart racing?" The answer being, "yes!". It was amazing.

Reminds me of the hymn "I sing the mighty power of God, that makes the mountains rise..." It sounded like the mountains were rising right up out of our backyard last night. Another line from that great hymn by Isaac Watts is "And clouds arise and tempests blow, by order of Thy throne..." Sure has been tempest-like around here with the weather.

I think we'll hang out inside today and watch the Olympics.

Waiting

This stage of pregnancy (week 38, 39. 40...) is a lot like waiting for the Lord's Second Coming...

--"No one knows about that day or hour..." Matthew 24:36
--"So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man (baby) will come at an hour when you do not expect him..." Matthew 24:44
--"There will be great distress..." Matthew 24:21

I am not saying that my baby is equivalent to the returning of the Lord in any way, I'm just saying the waiting is very similar...unknown, you better be prepared and it's all a bit uncomfortable.

Any day now would be great...I'm ready for either...the Lord or the baby.

Transitioning

Today is the first day it has been hard to be at home. Joel started school today (with kids) and is having a great day--which I'm glad! I'm at home, which I can't complain since I slept until 9am (after getting up from 545-630am to help Joel get out the door)...

However, I just don't have a lot to do. Well, that's not exactly true. I have lots of projects to do, I just can't really work on them right now--like painting, cleaning out closets, etc...it's just too hard with a big belly.

So, basically I'm just waiting for the baby to come. Any time would be great.

I decided I didn't want to just sit in front of the TV today (tempting as that is--I do love the Olympics). So, I decided I would scrapbook some more. I find I usually scrapbook in cycles. I do a TON in a row and then I get tired of it. Then, after a few weeks (sometimes a month or two), I get inspired again and go on a binge. I guess I'm on the upswing.

I'm working on some pages from our family vacation/reunion in July. I know, crazy, huh--I'm actually pretty much keeping up with scrapbooking right now. I even have one page of the baby book done! Amazing.

Anyway, I really like how this page of my two nieces, Faith & Avery turned out. It's a big bummer I can't figure out how to take better pictures of my scrapbook pages because these are really cute...

Pretty soon it will be time to scrapbook Baby J...still waiting...

The BIG Reveal!

Yesterday Joel & I worked all morning to complete the baseboards and trim in the nursery & our bedroom. Joel installed and I caulked & painted. I couldn't quite keep up with him, so I will have some more work to do later...But, we did complete the nursery. The only project left in this room are window sills (but they are hidden by the curtains, so they aren't a big deal...)

Our friends, Jason & Krista came over yesterday afternoon and helped us out a TON. The guys put together the crib & my chair and hauled all the baby gear downstairs. Krista & ironed and hung the curtains and started putting everything away. We are so grateful for their help and we LOVE the room! It is awesome!

We felt like we were "loading in" the room on Trading Spaces. It was lots of fun because I had all the stuff and we just had to set it up! I'm pretty tired today--doesn't help it was my first day back to work. I am in absolute disbelief that it's actually done--I never thought this day would come!

Here it is...

We were really close to being done, and we really liked what we had so far, but this wall really needed something above the picture & horseshoes. So, Jason suggested going a bit "Cowboy & Indian" and said we needed some arrows. Ironically, we actually had some (who has arrows??). I really like the way it looks!

Carpet In, Carpet Out

This is a big week for us as far as nursery projects. Joel & Lee were able to complete the flooring project on Sunday...Lee's help was a huge blessing to us!

We ordered carpet on Wednesday & had it installed on Friday...Here are some pictures to update the progress. We saved money by having Joel rip out the old carpet. At least he knew how to do it from last summer...It's hard to tell, but here are our stairs without carpet...

This is our bedroom (looks pretty small) without carpet...

Again, it doesn't look like much, but here are the stairs and nursery with carpet. It makes a huge difference!
