The next two blogs are total and complete silliness that my mother loves to indulge in every Christmas. Last year, it was "scrooges", this year elves. But, they are cute and make me laugh, so here they are for you to enjoy!
You can make your own very easily (for free!) at elfyourself.com
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Casey the Cow
Because we went with a "cowboy theme", a lot of Anders' toys are cowboy and/or farm related...I was really surprised what people found. One of the toys we got was "Casey the Cow". It is super cute and Anders seems to like its bright colors and the chicken and star that hang off of the cow. So, today I tried to take some pictures of him with the cow. These are pretty typical "Anders" faces. From the serious to the funny--he's trying to put his whole fist in his mouth in this first picture. This is a daily puzzle he works on, but hasn't quite figured out yet.
The Cold is Finally Here
After hitting 80 degrees here in Denver earlier this week, it has finally cooled off into more fall & winter-like weather.
I finally put the warm fleece wrap on Anders' car seat on Thursday. This was a great gift from my sister--it keeps him nice & warm when we're out and about or when we go on a walk, like we did today.
The hat is from my friend Julie. About 2 weeks ago it was way to big for him...now it fits just right. I'm sure in a few weeks it will be too small...how fast they grow!

Where's Anders?
Here's a short video I took of Anders today. I took a cuter one right before it, but I had the camera turned, so the video was sideways...silly me. I'll learn someday.

Pesky Squirrels
Today Joel & I looked out our back window and this is what we saw.
To the untrained eye, it looks like a cute dog sitting quietly in the backyard. You would be wrong.
If you pan out from Haiku, what you would actually see is her staring intently at a bushy-tailed squirrel that was flicking its tail in amusement at Haiku. I don't think you can see the pesky rodent in the picture, but he's there. Haiku's obssessed. Maybe she's bored. Maybe both.Maybe we should be exercising our dog instead of taking pictures of her.

Veterans Day
Today is Veterans Day. It almost slipped past me this year since I am not at work to teach about it. I think a lot of people confuse this day with Memorial Day. I know I did until I became a teacher and had to teach about the difference. So I looked it up again on the Department of Veterans Affairs website...
"Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty."
This is a special day for me--and my family. We've got lots of Veterans--two grandfathers, an uncle, my dad, my sister, my brother-in-law and I am sure there are others I am forgetting.
I'm proud of their service that spans over the past 60 years. What a legacy to leave. It's kind of sad we only celebrate them once a year.

Halloween Cuties
As I mentioned in a previous blog, our small group is growing by leaps and bounds. Four of us had babies this summer in July & August in addition to Zachary who is 20 months old. A couple of weeks ago we had a Halloween party with our small group and the kids were all dressed up. So, here they are...too cute.
Elijah was a "little monster" (far left), Anders was a frog, Zachary was a "chick magnet" and Acadia (sleeping, and our token girl) was "Autumn". Ryan was also present and dressed up cute as can be as a little greek god--his mom & dad were also dressed up in togas, but he was a bit fussy and didn't make it in the picture.
It has been lots of fun to be in a group with other moms. We get together about once a week to talk--yesterday I said we should talk about something non-child related. The room was silent. We couldn't think of anything! What was life like before kids?

Outside Adventure
Today I decided it was time to try the Baby Bjorn again. We haven't had too much success with it because Anders has been too small. But, Haiku really needed some exercise today and I didn't want to do the whole stroller thing...
So, here we are, all bundled up (it was a bit windy) and in the Baby Bjorn. I had to take a picture because Anders was just too cute. He didn't fuss a bit, but was tired when we got home! The cute hat is from my mom--it has ear flaps and everything!
Haiku probably enjoyed getting out of the house the most!

Rolling Over
Question of the day: should my 2 month old be rolling over (tummy to back)? Because he does. Quite easily.

Happy Halloween!
Anders was a bit more cooperative for yesterday's photo shoot. He sure made a cute frog!
We had fun "reverse tick or treating" yesterday. We weren't going to be home last night, so I made treats for the neighborhood kids we know and we took them around to their houses. The costume was almost too warm for Anders--it was almost 80 degrees yesterday!
