Witt's End
Who knew that at "Witt's End" is a real location, brought to you by a late-night screaming baby?
What they also don't tell you is that if you don't catch the first train back to "Sanity" you're stuck at Witt's End 'til morning.
When Andrew was a newborn, he used to start screaming at about 5pm and keep going until 8:30 or 9:00pm. I felt so isolated and helpless until Vince walked in the door at 6pm. I usually got on the phone and called another mom who would calm me down and not worry about the background noise. Hang in there Sarah! And feel free to call me! :)
Most of us with kids have been there or close. As my3boys said, hang in there! He's only 2 weeks old. Our lactation nurse used to say it takes about 4 weeks for everyone to adjust. Good luck and know we're here for you if you need to call or e-mail. It's okay to sit and cry too. I think most new mom's have at some point, I know I did.
I know the hours seem ridiculously long now...I remember walking a screaming Charis around our neighborhood, trying desperately to get her to go to sleep, as she had been awake for over 8 hours. She was only about 3 or 4 weeks old at the time. I couldn't fathom how she was keeping herself awake, but I was about to go bonkers, since all she was doing was yelling at the top of her lungs!! Now, of course, her screaming usually revolves around matters of injustice relating to her brothers...
